Lim 'No. 1' favorite to win PGA Tour's John Deere Classic

Sungjae Lim is the No. 1 favorite to win the John Deere Classic ($8 million purse) according to the PGA Tour.

The PGA Tour released its power rankings for this year's John Deere Classic on Tuesday, with Lim at the top of the list.

The PGA Tour noted that Lim "has played well since the Masters in April, tying for third at the Travelers Championship and averaging more than 83 percent (15-of-18) in greens in regulation."

While Lim is yet to win on the PGA Tour this year, he has four top-10 finishes in seven events since the Masters.

In April, he topped the Korean Professional Golf (KPGA) Tour's Woori Financial Championship.

This year's John Deere Classic will be held at TPC Deer Run (71-7,289 yards) in Silvis, Illinois, USA, over four days.

The winning score has been 21-under par the last two years, 고스톱사이트 and Michael Kim (USA) won in 2018 with a 27-under par score, making it a course where players have plenty of birdie opportunities.

Following the John Deere Classic, the PGA Tour shifts its focus to Europe.

The Genesis Scottish Open and The Open will be held in July, followed by the men's event at the Paris Olympics in early August.

The season's final events will take place before the FedEx Cup Playoffs begin in mid-August.

In addition to Lim, the field for this year's John Deere Classic includes 2013 and 2015 winner Jordan Spieth (USA), defending champion Jeff Straka (AUS) and former World No. 1 Jason Day (AUS).

Spieth, who won his first PGA Tour event in 2013 at the age of 19, is returning to the event nine years after his 2015 victory.

With the event coming before the European schedule and a small prize pool, the field is light on top names.

In addition to Lim, the Koreans will be represented by Lee Kyung-hoon, Kim Sung-hyun and Noh Seung-yul, with Kang Sung-hoon on the reserve list.
